Porject Update: Cygnar Arcane Tempest Gun Mages

I finished my buddy Shane's Arcane Tempest Gun Mages for his Cygnar army. I must say these have been my least favorite modes from Privateer Press. I don't like some of the poses at all and this really made it take longer to paint the unit as I just wasn't into them. I am hoping the new Plastic/Resin set has better poses. Anyway have a look and let me know how I did.

Project Update: Captain Darius

I know I promised the pics over a week ago but real life got in the way. This is Captain E. Dominic Darius, a warcaster for the Warmachine army of Cygnar. This is one of the final models I have to paint for my buddy Mike, then I can spend more time focusing on my Menoth army.

At the top you can see Darius with his three little minions. To the right is a pic of just Darius himself. This model was pretty fun to paint and I am really happy with how the colors turned out. I haven't seen him used in a game yet but somehow I feel now that he is painted Mike will want to throw down with Darius leading the way.

I know I haven't updated the blog much lately, but I have been doing hobby stuff such as stripping some models I got in trade and assembling some models I picked up for my Imperial Fists and Black Templars.

Some other projects I have in various stages of completion are:

2. My Exorcist for my Sisters of Battle
3. Arcane Tempest Gun Mage unit for Cygnar

First Painted Mini of 2011: Cygnar Thunder Head

Well here it is, my first completed model of 2011 and it is not even mine LOL. This is a Cygnar Thunderhead Warjack from my buddy Mike's Cygnar commission work. This was easily the coolest Cygnar warjack I have painted yet. It was very detailed and had a pretty cool dynamic pose that reminded me of the Heisman trophy pose.

Wellnow that he is finished I am moving on to some of my own stuff, two Penitent Engines for my Sisters of Battle. After that I will most likely be updating the paint jobs on my Orcs & Goblins as well as Space Wolves. I still have a few more Cygnar models to get to but they are a little further down in the painting queue .

Project Update: More Protectorate of Menoth

Today I was able to finish off two of my solo units for my Protectorate of Menoth, Warmachine force.

First up is my Allegiant of the Order of the Fist. I stuck to the same basic colors I have used through the painting of the army. The whole army is starting to get a pretty consistent look to it which I what I prefer to do when painting an army.

This guy is a pretty decent brawler but has low wounds so he has to be protected until he is close to his objective. I will be picking up a few more of these guys to do a High Allegiant Amon Ad-Raza theme force.

Next up is my Vassal of Menoth. Once again I used the same colors as with the rest of the army. This model doesn't have a lot of detail but I still really like how it turned out.

This guy is almost a must have for most Protectorate armies. His special ability to allow your jack an extra attack is just too useful to not take one. The only times I don't field this model is if I am playing a theme force that doesn't allow him.

Project Update: The Covenant of Menoth

I finished one of my favorite Menoth models last night, The Covenant of Menoth. I like this model both as a miniature and as the unit in game so I had to get it in the painting queue early. It is pretty useful for buffing my army so i find it is usually in most of my lists. As a model is was a total blast to paint, fairly detailed usually equals fun and this model was no let down.

Warmachine: Vanquisher and Reznik

I got to take a break from painting my buddies Cygnar army (which is almost complete), so I decided to paint some of my Protectorate of Menoth stuff. First up is the second warcaster I plan on using, High Executioner Reznik. I like him because he is more about beating your face than Kreoss is, so that gives the army an overall different feel to it. He has less focus than Kreoss, but he makes up for that in stats and abilities. I am still working out what units will work best with him, many of the ones I ran with Kreoss seem like they would do ok, but as I won't have Kreoss' "drop and pop" feat I think I am going to need a few more heavy hitters for assassination runs.

Next up is my Vanquisher Heavy Jack. I added this because my army was in some desperate need of ranged support. This guy has a nice big template gun arm and still has a pretty good weapon as well. I think he will fit really well into either a Kreoss or Reznik army and I plan on fielding him with both.

Up next for painting are a few of my Light Jacks, then some of the solos I use more often. The goal is to get the models I use most frequently painted then paint models as I want to add them into my army. As always, thanks for stopping by and please feel free to leave me a few comments.

Project Update: Choir of Menoth

Well I finally got around to painting some more of my own models. Below you can see my first completed unit of Choir of Menoth. The more I paint Warmachine models the more I am loving them. I am already addicted to the game itself, but the joy of painting the models just makes it even better.

I kept the same paint scheme I have used with all of my Protectorate models and they are really starting to look good when I set out all my painted stuff together. This unit is pretty much a necessary choice for most of the lists I have attempted to play thus the reason I went ahead and painted them.

Project Update: More Cygnar Models

Well my buddy Mike's army just keep's moving right along, today I get to show case two more units I have finished on this commission.

First up is his Defender Heavy Warjack. I kept it in the same colors that he has chosen for his army. I Painted this one mostly blue. So far this is a total of five Jacks and not one has a matching paint job.

The Cygnar Jacks are really easy to paint and I finished this one in about two hours. I have yet to face off against this guy on the battle field but from the size of that cannon I am not really sure I want to :)








Next up is the first Troops unit I finished for Mike. It is the Cygnar Long Gunners. These models were a blast to paint as they are so detailed. Painting them has really made me look forward to painting his Trencher Commando unit as it appears to be even more detail then these models were.

Project Update: Two more Cygnar Solos

First up is a Cygner Gun Mage Adept. This was a very cool model to paint and I am hoping Mike gets the actual unit of Gun Mages because I would like to paint them.

I used very little of the colors I have been using in the army as the Gun Mages seems to have their own style of "Uniform". They kind of remind me of Capt. Jack Harkness from the Torchwood series. Anyway I used more browns and greys for the model and then a nice blue Grey (GW Shadow Grey) for his trench coat.

Next up is Captain Maxwell Fin. I am sorry for the quality of the photo, it was a little too bright outside when I took this and I am afraid it shadowed pretty badly.

This was really a fun model to paint and agin he was different as he used less of the typical Cygnar colors and instead has more browns and tans. I loved his huge gun and ammo belt, the models pose is just awesome and was a pleasure to paint.

Project Update: Captain Arian Strangewayes

Today I finished Captain Arian Strangewayes for my buddy Mike's Cygnar army. This is probably my least favorite model I have painted so far. It wasn't that it was hard to paint or anything, I just really don't care for the model.

I kept to the same paint scheme that I have been using for this army and over all I am very pleased with how he turned out. I know have two more Solos and two units of troops to paint and I will be done with Mike's army at least for now.

Once I am done with the Cygnar minis, I will be able to devote more time to painting my Protectorate of Menoth as well as updating the paint job on my Orcs and Goblins army for Warhammer Fantasy.

Project Update: Menoth Templar Heavy Jack

Just another quick update as I finished my Templar Heavy Jack for my Protectorate of Menoth. I painted it basically the same as my Crusader but I was much more careful with the washes this time.

I really like the Templar jack. The model is beautiful and I like its rules. I am considering replacing my Crusader with it the next time I play so I can see how well it performs in game.

Overall it was a joy to paint and it is nice to see more of my force getting painted. Now its back to my buddy's Cygnar army. I am down to his three solos, then his two units and I can then focus solely on my army.

Project Update: Commander Adept Sebastion Nemo

Just another quick update today. I finished Commander Adept Sebastion Nemo from my friends Cygnar army. This was a really fun mini to paint. He has a pretty cool pose and is a very detailed mini. I kept to my friends wishes on the paint scheme and over all as I get more pieces of his army finished I am sold on using white as a secondary color instead of the yellows. The parts that I have completed look pretty sweet out on the table together.

Project Update: High Exemplar Kreoss

Well I was able to squeeze in some time on one of my Protectorate of Menoth models. This is High Exemplar Kreoss. He is the only caster I currently own, but I am quite happy with him atm so I haven't bought any others.

I painted him in the same colors and style as my Crusader heavy jack. I really like the off white/bone white over the pure white and from the artwork in the rulebook many of the Menoth units have that sort of color as opposed to pure white. There is an amazing artwork of Kreoss in the Warmachine rulebook and I attempted to paint this model to match that image.

I do apologize for the photo quality as I waited to long in the even and lost the good light, but I wanted to get an image of him up and move onto the next few models in my buddy's Cygnar army.

Commander Stryker Finished!

I just have a quick update today. I finished Commander Stryker for my friend's Cygnar army. I kept to the colors my friend chose for his army theme and I am very happy with the results and I am sure Mike will be as well.

I must say I am really enjoying painting the Warmachine minis allot. I am trying to get through Mike's army as fast as I can (while still making it look good) so that I can get painting on my Menoth models. Right now I have two more casters, three solos and two units till I am finished with his army.

Please fell free to give me feed back as I am still new to Warmachine/Hordes and would love to hear opinions of more veteran players.

Project Update: Cygnar Charger Light Jack!

Today I finished the Charger Light Jack for my buddy Mike's Cygnar Army. I kept to his painting wishes by including white as the secondary color for the model.  The only yellow I used was the the Cygnar icon.

With this model I am now finished with all of the Jacks that my buddy owns. I will now be moving on to his casters. I am hoping with luck to have all of his minis painted by the end of July.

Once his army is done I will then start some heavy work on my Protectorate of Menoth force. I am very happy with how my Crusader turned out so I am really looking forward to getting paint on more of my models.

Project update: Crusader Heavy Jack

I just finished painting the first model for my Protectorate of Menoth Warmachine army. I have been painting my friend Mike's Cygnar army and I felt like my minis were crying for some attention so I decided to give them some.

I am mostly going with the standard Menoth colors except I am going with an off white instead of the pure white. Allot of the art I have seen for Menoth seems to be more of an off white so that is what I chose to go with. I was a little heavy with the wash so on my next model I will definitely be addressing that.

Over all I am very happy with the outcome and can now envision how the rest of my force will look with these colors. Thanks for taking the time to read the blog and please fell free to leave a comment.

Lancer Light Jack finished

Here is the 3rd Jack I have completed for my friend Mike's Cygnar army. I used white as the primary color for the Lancer with the blues as a secondary and yellow as a minimal 3rd color.

The smaller jacks are not as detailed as the larger ones so this guy didn't take much time to paint. I have been having a blast painting the Warmachine mins and I am just aching to get some paint on my Menoth models, so I primed my Crusader and will hopefully get to painting it soon.
