Project Update: Inquisitorial Storm Troopers

I just have a quick update to show off my Inquisitorial Storm Troopers. I did a quick paint job using just their basic colors and then a heavy Devlan Mud wash and I must say for such a quick technique I am very satisfied with the overall results. I may come back in the future and add some more highlights but the unit is easily tabletop quality and ready for gaming, plus it puts me one step closer to having a second fully painted army.

So is this something any of you have done or do you paint every unit to its highest possible standard? I am finding my hobby time becoming more limited as summer comes to a close and my kids are needing more help from Dad, plus I have been spending more time actually playing the games I paint for. With my time for painting shrinking, I am looking for ways to still get a quality look out of my minis but speed up the time it takes to paint them.

As always thanks for stopping by and please feel free to leave me a comment or two.

Project Update: Inquisitorial Rhino

Sorry for the lack of updating lately but two things happened, first I have been playing mostly Warmachine and Warhammer Fantasy Battles, secondly my DSL modem died and I just got the replacement this weekend. The good news is it was just in time for me to post this update :)

Last night I finished painting up my Inquisitorial Rhino. It was fun to finally paint another color instead of black. I was very excited to paint this model because I splurged and bought the Forge World parts for it.  I then added my own little conversion to the top hatch using some card stock.

I really enjoyed painting this model and now I am free to move onto the Inquisitors and the Inquisitorial Storm Troopers who will be carted around in this fine new ride.

I am using a new technique for battle damage that I found on the web. It involves getting paint on the spongy foam you get in your blister packs and then dabbing it on the appropriate areas. This was my first attempt and I am happy with it, I am sure it will improve as I practice more with it.

Well up next on my painting table are my two Inquisitors, a Priest and a squad of ten Storm Troopers so it shouldn't be long before you are seeing another update to the blog. As always thank you for stopping by and please feel free to leave a comment.

Sisters of Battle Army List Revamp #1

With all the psychers being fielded lately I thought I would make some adjustments to my Sisters of Battle list to give me a little more psychic defense.

My original list was a strictly Sisters army, but now I have decided to add in some Inquisition units. I threw in 2 junior Inquisitors and gave both Hammer of the Witches psychic power. I then took 2 small units of Inquisitorial Storm Troopers. My thought is the Inquisitors can join the Storm Troopers and sit in the back guarding objectives and throwing out 2 Hammer of the Witches each turn to mess with the enemy psychics. I am hoping that this coupled with my sisters Shield of Faith can nullify much of the psychic powers being wielded lately.

I have also decided to take a priest so that I can field 2 Penitent Engines. I know a lot of people feel that the engines suck but I want to give them a try. I figure to run them straight at the enemy, this will hopefully draw fire away from my other units and if they make it into the enemy lines they can be very effective in HtH if my rolling is good for their amount of attacks.

I wanted to know what anyone thinks. Is this list missing anything? I am considering taking an Inquisitor lord to get the Psychic Hood , do you think this would be a better route to go? Anyway feel free to throw out some suggestions as I am open to improving on the list.

Well since I decided to get my half completed armies finished I have been tinkering around with army lists when I am not painting. In a previous blog titled Inquisitor Lord or Canoness?, I was debating on which HQ to use. Well I have since decided to go with an all Sisters army and I am very happy with that decision.

I thought that today I would post my initial 2000 point list of the Order of the Valarous Heart and get some feedback on it. I already know most people will probably tell me to get a 2nd Exorcist and trust me as soon as I purchase a 2nd one I will be altering my list to accomodate it. Ok now on to the list.

Inquisitor Lord or Canoness?

Today I finished reading the 40K novel Faith and Fire, and have now been inspired to finish my Sisters of Battle army, the Order of the Valorous Heart. I have had this army in a partial state of painting for years so I am excited to feel like painting them again.

I starting playing the Sisters before they ever belonged to the Witch Hunters codex. Since becoming a part of the Inquisition I have had a hard time deciding between using a Canoness or a Witch Hunter as my HQ. Both have their upsides and downsides to using them.

At this time I am leaning towards a pure Sisters list. My thinking on this is I can get two units of Celestians without taking up an additional elite slot. Another benefit seems to be that the Canoness and her squad seem to be around 30-40 points cheaper than the Witch hunter squads I would want to run. The down side is that I lose the Witch Hunter's abilities against psykers and the use of Assassins.

I am going to play around with a few lists before making my final decision, but I wanted to put this out there to get some feedback on what other players see as advantages/disadvantages to each. I appreciate any feedback from my fellow games.
