Project Update: Space Wolf Terminators
I just have a quick update today to show my latest finished group of models. I am having fun painting up the Space Wolves, but this will probably be the last unit I do for a little bit. A good friend of mine needs 20 Chaos Terminators and a few other models painted so I will be once again painting other people's minis while mine sit. I really need to learn how to say no. After that is finished I will be moving back to my Orcs and Gobbos, so it may be quite awhile before more of my Space Wolves show up on the blog.
As always, thanks for stopping by and please feel free to leave a comment. I am always interested in feedback on my models.

Project Update: More Space Wolves
Between yesterday and today I was able to finish 3 more units of my Space Wolves. What began as a distraction from painting Orcs and Goblins has quickly become my new obsession, lucky for me it won't last too long as I don't yet own everything I need to run my Ragnar Blackmane all Drop Pod list. I have plenty of Space Wolves but I am lacking the 8 Drop Pods I need. Luckily by next week I will have 3, including a Forge World Dreadnought Pod.
First up we have two more units of Grey Hunters. This puts me at a total of 3 units of 6 so I will probably do some more Blood Claws next to endure I have all of my troops I have in my list covered.
All 3 of my Grey Hunter units have different pack marking on their shoulder pads so I will easily be able to tell them apart on the battle field. I also tried to kit each one slightly differently so that each could do multiple roles if needed. All 3 will have a Wolf Guard in their ranks as well to even more diversify each units combat effectiveness.
I have plenty more Grey Hunters to go around so I can add to unit strength or even add a new unit if I decide the list needs some minor tweaking.
Last up today is my first Long Fang Squad. This unit can do multi-purpose shooting with 2 Meltas and 2 Missile Launchers. I will be fielding a second unit that will either field 4 Missiles or 3 Missles and a Las Cannon.
Well that is all for today, but you check out all of my painted Space Wolves here if you would like. As always thanks for stopping by and please feel free to leave a comment, especially if you have any experience playing or facing a Space Wolf Drop Pod list.

First Purchase of 2011
Here it is my first hobby purchase of 2011. I got the Space Wolf Pack mainly because I needed to build some Wolf Guard, but also because I wanted to add some of the bits from the sprues to various other models among my Space Wolf army.
I used the heads and knives to upgrade some scout models I had to Space Wolf Scouts. I added a few of the banners and icons to differentiate between some of my packs and finally I built up 12 Wolf Guard with varying weapon options.
Overall I completely love this kit and it was a great first purchase for the year. As always, thanks for reading the blog and please feel free to leave a comment.

Paint Job Update: Space Wolves
A few months back I got a surprise from my good friend Brandon, he gave me his Space Wolf army that I painted for him. I was excited to have Space Wolves again as they were my very first 40K army. I had sold mine years ago and then Brandon asked me to paint his. I was more than happy to do so and he played them many times in 4th Edition, but really didn't like them in 5th even with their new codex, so when he asked if I wanted a free Space Wolf army that I had painted I jumped at the opportunity!
Then as I read the new codex I realized the paint scheme I had no longer matched the codex. I know to some this would be no big deal but I like to make my armies match the codex colors. The one thing I don't like though is Space Wolf Grey so I will be keeping the Darker codex grey look and just updating the shoulder pad colors as well as some areas that just don;t look quite right to me. The models to the left are going to be my test models. They are two different Grey Hunters that I will be updating.

Above and below you can see my completed updates. The first thing I did was color over their right shoulder pad using Mechrite red with a black pack marking. I then touched up some of the codex gray that was not looking too good. The next step was adding some battle damage to the armour; I tried not to go over board with it but I think I could have done a little more. Lastly I went over some of the model with Badab Black, Devlan Mud and Gryphonne Sepia just to tone down some of the brighter colors of the model. Lastly I noticed that the varnish I used before was more of a matte and had kind of a shine to it. This time I used my flat spray varnish and I was much happier with the outcome.
Well that is how I plan on updating the rest of the Space Wolves. I apologize for the picture quality I am still learning how to use my new light box so I hope to keep improving with each new picture I take. Right now I think my biggest problem is I need one more light to come in from above, so I will have to pick one up.
As always thank you for checking out my blog and please feel free to leave a comment.

Space Wolf Army List
I mentioned a few posts ago that my friend Brandon recently gave me the entire Space Wolf army I had painted for him. I have been very excited about receiving this army as Space Wolves were my very first 40K army.
Naturally since getting the Army I have been toying with lists. My favorite Wolf Lord has always been Ragnar Blackmane but I never play special characters in my list because they are usually 1850 points or less. Well most people around me are running at 2000 points so I thought why not make a list with my favorite Character in it.
So below I am posting my Ragnar Blackmane list. I am shooting for a list that is both competitive as well as fluffy, but when it comes down to it I will stick with fluff over competitive. I have Blood Claws because Ragnar still acts like one so I thought it fitting that a force he is leading would contain them. The Wolf Guard will be split up and leading each one of the Grey Hunter and Bloodclaw units.

Project Update: Space Wolf Razorback
A few weeks ago I got an amazing gift from my friend Brandon. He gave me his entire Space Wolf army that I had painted for him. One of the Razorbacks needed a turret so I decided to take this opportunity to use this Las/Plas Conversion tutorial.
I am very pleased with the results of this extremely simple conversion, so once it was completed I primed and and painted it up to match the Razorback. I even added a bit of snow texture so that it would fit in with the rest of the model.
This is going to be the first of a few projects I have with my newly acquired Space Wolves. I have several unpainted minis and I also plan on some repaints to bring the colors more inline with the pack markings in the new Codex.
I am very pleased with how the Razorback turned out. With the success of this conversion, I am going to buy another Razorback kit to use my last set of Forge World doors on. I will be using this same conversion and that will give me a total of four Razorbacks, two with Twin-linked Assault Cannons and Two with the Las/Plas.
So stay tuned for further Space Wolf updates as I will be working on them more heavily once I finish up my Witchhunters/Sister of Battle models. As always thanks for stopping by and please feel free to leave a comment or two!

Space Wolves Display - Assault on Magnir's Crag
I am not sure how many of you check the GW site daily but I do and yesterday they had an amazing article showcasing a large cinematic Spacewolf Vs. Tyranids display made for Games Day UK. Not only was this large display amazing but the article shows tons of close up views of the display and even goes into how some of the dioramas on the display were made. I am very happy to see GW doing this sort of thing again and the article is definitely worth the read. I am linking to it as well as posting a pic on the display.

Friday Projects Update: 09 Oct 2009
Well I know it is technically Saturday now but I got home late from my daughter's Volleyball game so I am running behind. I don't have much to update on this week. First up is a last minute addition to my buddies Space Wolf commission. I was just about to mail them out to him on Tuesday when he called and asked if I could throw a jump pack on 1 of each of the special weapons. I proceeded to unpack the box, find the special weapons guys and get to work. The picture to the left is the final result. The only other thing I finished this week is my Black Templar Predator that you can see below. The exciting thing about that model is that I am now finished with all of the Templars that I own. I may pick up another model or two but for all intents and purposes that army is finished.
Next on my plate is to finish up my Sister of Battle, along with the Adepta Sororitas I will also be painting Dwarfs and Tomb kings for Fantasy. While finishing off those armies I will be working on a few small projects, my objective markers for the Templars and continuing my practice models for the Imperial fists.
Well that it for this week, thanks for reading and as always I welcome all comments.

Space Wolf Commission Finished!

Well today I finished my Space Wolf commission for my buddy Brandon. I had fun painting the Wolves again but I am glad it is over for now. There will be a second round of Space Wolves I will be painting for Brandon but that is a few days off at least.
So now that I have all of his Wolves finished I am going t
o be moving on to finish some of my armies that are very close to finished. I will be starting off with my Black Templar Predator to finish off that army. I will also be painting some Dwarfs, Tomb Kings and my Sisters of Battle over the next few weeks.Once I finish those armies then it will be a toss up of what to paint next, but right now my Imperial Fists are in an early lead. Like I said it was fun painting the Space Wolves again, it even led me to start re-reading the Space Wolf Omnibus by William King, until I pick up the next few books in the Horus Heresy. Now I think I may take a break from painting today to watch some college football, but I will be back soon updating on my painting progress.
As always thank you for taking the time to read my blog.

Small Space Wolf Project

Well with the new Space Wolf Codex a couple of months away my buddy Brandon asked me if I could paint him up some more Blood Claws to go with the Space Wolf army I painted for him 2 years ago. I was actually looking forward to being done with Marines for a little while, but he is a good friend so I took the job.

I asked him to send me a few of the minis I had already painted so I could match the style and colors as he wants the army to look uniform. Today I made sure that I remember all the colors I used and that I had fresh pots of each. So now I just need to prime they and get to work.

I have noticed something while trying to get all of my half painted armies completed. I can see from the oldest army to the most recent how my painting style has changed and grown. It is a challenge to try to match older models I have painted, as I have to remember what techniques I used on them.
So
I am sitting here looking at these Space Wolf models and I realized I used allot of dry brushing, almost no blending or shading and I can see the heavy use of ink on the faces. It was pretty cool to see how much I have learned about painting in the last 2 years, but also realized it was going to be a challenge to get the new models to match the old style.
So as soon as I post this I will be off to prime around 30 Blood Claws. I will still have a Character model or two and some long fangs but I wanted to get the bulk of this project completed first.
I am going to do my best to make the models match the old while I incorporate some blending as well as washes into the new models. I keep the blog updated as I work on this project.
