Contest Entry: What should I choose?

They are having a painting contest over at MiniWargaming.com to celebrate the release of 8th Edition Fantasy Battles. I wish to enter the single model competition and I am torn between the following models.

First up is my winged Vampire Lord. This guy is going to be my Vampire Counts General so I want to give him a great paint job. The model is very detailed and has a dynamic pose. I think it will be a challenge to paint, but will make an excellent model to showcase my skill.

This is the other model I am trying to decide on. This is a Special Edition Orc Warboss that came with the Collector's Edition of the Warhammer Online MMO. This too will be my general for my Orcs and Goblins. I even have a name for him already, Grubak Skullzbasha. The model is not as dynamic as the vampire but it is just as detailed and it is a more unique model since it is a limited edition.

So let me know what you all think would be the best choice to enter for a painting contest I am going to make my decision by this weekend so I have plenty of time to get it painted. As I usually just paint for table-top quality I want to ensure I have plenty of time and see how well I can actually paint a fig. The contest deadline is July 31st so as long as I start by this weekend I should be fine.

Project Update: Immolator 2

I finished my second Immolator over the Holiday weekend. I used mostly the same paint scheme as my first one, with some subtle difference to give each tank it's own character. I also painted the other hatch with the pintle mounted storm bolter so that this can be easily converted into a Rhino.

The one complaint I do have about this model kit is the clear plastic window. It is really a pain in the butt trying to paint on clear plastic with a metallic color. I have never had this problem with my Eldar vehicles, but with them I am using a black paint. Anyway I may go over the windows again and see if I can't make them look at least a little better.

So here I am getting my Immolator painted when I go into the garage to find where I had pout the a fore mentioned clear plastic windows. So what do I find while I am out there? Oh just Saint Celestine, an Inquisition Rhino, my two Inquisitors and a squad of Storm Troopers. Just when I thought I was getting close to finishing a second 40K army I find more work to do LOL! To be honest I can't believe I forgot I had all those models.

So it looks like I will still be painting Sisters of Battle for a few more posts at least. Once I have finished this army I will be moving on to wrapping up my Tzeentch Chaos Marines, that I have made a few additions to and then it will be my Eldar that get my full attention. Still off in the distance I have my Orks to start on and my Imperial Fists as well as Daemons, both of which I am still collecting models for.

As always, thank you for stopping by and please take a few mins to give me a comment or two!

Commander Stryker Finished!

I just have a quick update today. I finished Commander Stryker for my friend's Cygnar army. I kept to the colors my friend chose for his army theme and I am very happy with the results and I am sure Mike will be as well.

I must say I am really enjoying painting the Warmachine minis allot. I am trying to get through Mike's army as fast as I can (while still making it look good) so that I can get painting on my Menoth models. Right now I have two more casters, three solos and two units till I am finished with his army.

Please fell free to give me feed back as I am still new to Warmachine/Hordes and would love to hear opinions of more veteran players.

Tactical Squad and Imperial Fists Icons

I found this great tutorial, Green Stuff Casting (On Shoulder Pads),  from the Ferrus Manus blog. This is exactly what I was looking for to do my Imperial Fist army. I followed the exact steps in their tutorial and got the following results.

I am very excited with the results, Over the last two days I have done 40 Tactical Icon pads and about 20 Fist Icon pads (I already had some metal ones). I should be able to finish my last two Tactical Squads later this evening.

Anyway, that is an excellent tutorial and I just wanted to show off what I did using it. Thanks for stopping by the blog and please fell free to leave a comment.

Project Update: Cygnar Charger Light Jack!

Today I finished the Charger Light Jack for my buddy Mike's Cygnar Army. I kept to his painting wishes by including white as the secondary color for the model.  The only yellow I used was the the Cygnar icon.

With this model I am now finished with all of the Jacks that my buddy owns. I will now be moving on to his casters. I am hoping with luck to have all of his minis painted by the end of July.

Once his army is done I will then start some heavy work on my Protectorate of Menoth force. I am very happy with how my Crusader turned out so I am really looking forward to getting paint on more of my models.

As always thank you for reading the blog and please feel free to leave a comment or two.
